Terms

What The Search Project does, what it does not promise, and what is expected of you in return. Short, because the product is.
What the service is
The Search Project takes one search query, reads the pages that rank for it, and produces a Search Intelligence Report explaining why they rank — with the evidence behind every claim, the pages that evidence came from, and a confidence level you can inspect.
It is an analysis tool. It reads the public web and reasons about it. It does not touch your website, your hosting, or your search console, and it never asks for access to them.
What it costs
Nothing is charged for The Search Project. There is no plan, no subscription, no credit, and no upgrade. Running an analysis spends your own search, page-reading, and AI provider usage, billed to you by those providers directly; the amount each run spent is shown in Settings → Usage.
Your account and your keys
You are responsible for your account credentials and for the provider keys you add. Those keys spend your money at your providers, so treat them as you would any other credential. Remove a key from Settings and it stops being used immediately.
What is expected of you
- Use your own accounts, and stay inside the terms of the search, crawling, and AI providers you connect.
- Do not use the service to attack, overload, or gain access to anything you do not own.
- Do not attempt to reach private or internal addresses through a competitor URL — the crawler refuses them, and trying is a misuse of the service.
- Do not present a report as something it is not. Every claim in it is attributed; keep it that way when you share it.
Requests are rate-limited per account so one person cannot exhaust shared capacity. Hitting a limit is not a penalty; it clears on its own.
What the analysis is, and is not
Every recommendation ships with its evidence and a confidence level, or it is not shipped at all. That is a rule the software enforces on itself, and it is the reason to trust a report — not a promise about outcomes.
Search results change, and reading a page is not the same as reading Google’s mind. A report describes what was observably true of a search result at the moment it was analyzed. It is not a guarantee of a ranking, of traffic, or of any commercial result, and no part of it should be treated as one.
Content you produce
Your queries, your reports, and anything you export from them are yours. We claim no ownership of them and do not use them to train anything.
Availability
The service depends on third-party search, crawling, and AI providers. When one of them is slow, rate-limited, or down, an analysis can fail — the report will tell you which stage failed and why, rather than presenting a partial result as a complete one.
Ending it
You can stop using The Search Project at any time and delete your reports and your account from Settings. Nothing is retained to hold you.
Changes
If these terms change materially, the date at the top changes with them. See also the Privacy page, which describes what is stored and who it is sent to.
